It's always fun to photograph these outsider artists at Heartside Ministries on the Avenue for the Arts in downtown Grand Rapids.
I'm now booking headshots in studio. Contact me for booking at firstname.lastname@example.org. Corporate portraiture, actor, model, author, artist head shots, etc...
I've realized that I'm up to 19 cover stories for Faith Magazine. Oh, the stories I get to help tell through the lens... man! Some of the topics I've covered include a cancer survivor who started a nonprofit that provides a clean/sterile environment to children with the same disease, immigrants facing persecution and deportation, Burmese refugees resettled in West Michigan after fleeing horrendous violence, a prison chaplain, a famous radio personality (I had no idea), a young man's near death experience after falling to what should have been his death, and a couple who's son was murdered over two decades ago only to recently put the cold case to rest as the killer was finally found and sentenced. These are just some of my favorite ones that I though I'd share. I'm humbled by the stories these folks and many more have shared with me over the past four years.

This weekend I photographed another Right of Ordination to the Catholic Priesthood at the Cathedral of St. Andrew. These nuns in particular I've been shooting for a few years now and as a subject never gets old to me. The popping blue color of their habits and the way they breezily flow about keeps me looking for new angles to capture their beauty.
I've also been photographing the annual Corpus Christi procession from St. Isadore's for the past four years. I do this as a personal project and again, am always looking for new ways to capture this centuries old tradition.
In October of 2016 I had the good fortune to join my wife for 13 days in Ecuador and document the GVSU Occupational Therapy program's fieldwork at CRECER rehabilitation facility in Ibarra. A year later GVSU acquired the images for their permanent art collection. And I finally got down to the new Finkelstein Hall to see my photographs displayed. I'm honored to have my work lining the halls along with all the other artists, especially fellows like my good buddy Rick Beerhorst and GR's favorite folk artist, Reb Roberts.
Nice view from the office/studio. Oh yeah, have you heard? Excited to take my photography to the next level and happy to share the space with Cultured.GR, Grand Rapids premier Arts Publication!
